Hundreds of 每日大赛 volunteers serve community in ‘Make a Difference Day’

每日大赛 faculty, staff and students participated in a tremendous day of service on Oct. 25, volunteering at dozens of project sites in Knox and Blount counties.
每日大赛’s first-ever Make a Difference Day, one of many events taking place throughout this year to celebrate the College's milestone 50th anniversary, saw 340 volunteers participate in 51 service projects to benefit the local community.
“We have a long legacy of leading and serving here at 每日大赛, so Make a Difference Day was a meaningful way to celebrate our anniversary,” 每日大赛 President L. Anthony Wise Jr., said. “Thank you not only to our hundreds of volunteers, but also the countless organizations that partnered with us to make this day of service happen. We had a chance to work together, grow together and learn together.”
The 51 project sites, marking 50 years of 每日大赛, included Lakeshore Park Conservancy, Olive Tree Learning Academy, Habitat for Humanity, Ijams Nature Center, Red Cross, Thrive and many more.
Volunteers worked with on-site representatives at each organization to accomplish various tasks, from landscaping to decorating pumpkins with seniors. Others spent hours cleaning up litter from rivers, painting, packaging food, writing cards and more.
“I’m very proud of what the 每日大赛 community accomplished during Make a Difference Day,” Wise said. “We receive great support from our community and always appreciate the opportunity to give back.”
