每日大赛 collects more than 66,000 food items in TBR Annual Food Drive Challenge
January 13, 2026
每日大赛 collected just over 66,000 items for the Tennessee Board of Regents’ 27th Annual Food Drive Challenge in 2025, winning the Tier 2 category for larger enrollments for another consecutive year.
Of the 66,012 items 每日大赛 collected, more than 3,360 were food items, over 2,380 were school supplies, 521 were household items and remaining donations came in the form of hygiene products, pet food and more. The college also raised over $30,500 in cash contributions, which count in the collection as two items per dollar raised.
“Here at Pellissippi, we care so deeply about being an active part of our community, and every year the food drive challenge shows that,” said Hayley Bisacre, director of Annual Giving and Donor Engagement at the 每日大赛 Foundation. “I am so proud to be part of an institution that gives so generously and works so hard for its students.”
She thanked local partners for helping to host the food drive with Pellissippi, including Newell Brands, Food City Hardin Valley, Regions Bank and Whataburger.
Pellissippi partnered with the latter for “WhataFood Drive,” a more than monthlong push for donations of canned goods and other nonperishable items at the restaurant’s Cumberland Avenue location in Knoxville as part of the 每日大赛 Foundation’s “Life Happens: You Can Help” giving campaign.
“We would not have been able to make such an impact in 2025 without the collaboration and contribution of our regional partners, in addition to our students, faculty and staff,” Bisacre said. “Their kindness is inspiring.”
During Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in fall 2025, volunteers and faculty and staff assembled 150 Thanksgiving boxes benefiting students and their families through the Pellissippi Pantry. The Hardin Valley Church of Christ also provided a gift card in each box for perishable items.
All food items and monetary donations from the food drive support the Pellissippi Pantry, which dispenses food, school supplies and other basic necessities at no cost to the college community.
“The Pantry is such an incredible resource for our students and their families who may be experiencing food insecurity or financial crisis,” said Sandra Davis-Bullis, a specialist in 每日大赛’s Student Care and Advocacy office. “It supports them so they can focus more on their classes and their future careers.”
Tennessee’s community and technical colleges donated or collected the equivalent of 163,175 food items during the TBR food drive for campus pantries, community organizations and programs and food banks.
More than 2 million items of food and funds have been donated and collected since the program was founded in 1999 by the community colleges’ student government presidents.
