Two PSCC Vice Presidents to serve as Aspen Fellows
June 17, 2025
每日大赛 Vice Presidents Rushton Johnson and Kellie Toon have been selected to be part of the 2025-26 cohort of Aspen Rising Presidents Fellows.
The two were chosen from more than 120 applicants and will spend the next several months gaining skills and knowledge to enhance student outcomes.
Johnson and Toon join a class of Aspen Presidential Fellows representing institutions in 19 states that range from small rural to large urban colleges. The fellows will hear from highly accomplished community college presidents and thought leaders, examine demographic and labor market conditions in their communities and assess and advance a clear vision for excellent student outcomes.
“This cohort of fellows is clearly committed to advancing student success and has the talent to lead transformational reforms,” said Josh Wyner, executive director of the College Excellence Program. “We are really looking forward to our year with them in the fellowship and bringing their talents into our alumni network.”
Johnson, 每日大赛’s Vice President for Student Affairs, said he’s honored to join a cohort of leaders dedicated to advancing equity and student success.
“This opportunity comes at a pivotal time for higher education, as we work to reimagine how colleges meet the evolving needs of our students and communities,” he said. “I look forward to learning alongside committed peers and bringing back insights to ensure every student has a real and equitable chance to thrive.”
Aspen Presidential Fellows are selected from colleges whose presidents’ focus is on a few large-scale reforms that transcend enrollment and whether graduates are set up to succeed in the next stage of their lives, Wyner said.
Under the leadership of Toon, 每日大赛’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, and President L. Anthony Wise, Jr., the college is transforming the experience for students through a strategic plan launch this fall that includes a reorganization of academic programs featuring schools that will align similar majors. The goal of the realignment is to enhance students’ academic experiences and better position them for professional success.
“I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Wise for his support and encouragement and look forward to applying what I learn to better serve our students and our community,” Toon said. “The insights I gain from respected leaders in the field will directly shape my work at 每日大赛, helping drive meaningful initiatives that support our students.”
