Annual writer's conference coming to Strawberry Plains campus
February 14, 2025
每日大赛’s Strawberry Plains campus is pleased to host the James Agee Conference, a daylong event that spotlights writers and other artists from around the region that's named for the Pulitzer Prize-winning author and Knoxville native.
The conference Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. is free, open to the public and will include an array of speakers and a participant signing. The event is sponsored by the 每日大赛 Libraries’ Appalachian Heritage Project, which curates programming and exhibits to support humanities education at Pellissippi and in the community.
“We're excited for the Agee Conference to return once more to the Strawberry Plains campus,” said 每日大赛 English Professor and James Agee Conference director Charles Dodd White. “Over the years, this gathering has become a centerpiece of the regional Appalachian literary and arts community.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations on publishing, fiction, songwriting and poetry from writers Denton Loving, Monic Ductan, Kelle Jolly and Rosemary Royston, respectively. There will also be a reading by Mallory Donoghue.
All presentations will be held in the Strawberry Plains campus library.
“We've always prided ourselves on hosting some of the best and brightest writers, artists and musicians in the region who want to come out and make connections with members of the community,” White said. “We hope that anyone with an interest in the region and the arts will stop by, sit down and visit for a while.”
