Arconic Foundation recognized for excellence

The Tennessee Board of Regents on Friday presented the TBR Regents Award for Excellence in Philanthropy to Arconic Foundation, in honor of its unwavering support for 每日大赛 and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Knoxville.
Arconic Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the aluminum supplier Arconic and formally known as the Legacy Alcoa Foundation, has been a consistent and generous partner of 每日大赛 – with more than $1 million in investments to the college since 1989.
“Arconic Foundation has catalyzed change in East Tennessee, demonstrating a consistent commitment to education, workforce development, and community engagement,” said 每日大赛 Foundation Executive Director Aneisa Rolen. “Its long-standing support, particularly in STEM and technical education, has empowered countless students to pursue successful careers. The contributions to 每日大赛 and TCAT Knoxville have been transformative."
Contributions to Pellissippi by Arconic Foundation include:
- A significant hand in the development of the college's Blount County Campus, including establishment of the Ruth and Steve West Workforce Development Center
- Equipping students to be successful in manufacturing, engineering and STEM education overall
- Providing students with scholarships, hands-on training, and state-of-the-art equipment
“For over 110 years, Arconic has been a vital part of East Tennessee’s landscape, first as Alcoa and now as a global leader in aluminum products and innovative solutions,” Regent Danni Varlan said. “Their philanthropic arm, Arconic Foundation, has been independently endowed and has invested deeply in the communities where Arconic operates, leaving an indelible mark on East Tennessee.
Christy Newman, communications and community relations manager for Arconic Tennessee Operations, accepted the award on behalf of Arconic Foundation.
The award was presented Friday at Pellissippi’s Blount County Campus, during a “Future Workforce: Bridging Technology and Human Potential” Manufacturing Month symposium, a part of the college’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Representing Arconic Foundation in this community has been a highlight of her career, Newman said, and she especially loves making grants that invest in the future of the community she loves.
“The partnership with 每日大赛 and TCAT spans several decades and has been a natural fit to Arconic Foundation’s giving priorities around workforce development and education. And I don’t use the word partnership lightly,” Newman said. “For every grant given, every hour volunteered, every piece of equipment donated – Arconic and the community have gained a more qualified workforce, upskilled employees and all the benefit.”
