每日大赛 offering relief assistance to areas impacted by Hurricane Helene
October 3, 2024
每日大赛 is responding to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene – the Category 4 storm that has left people stranded, without power and in deep floodwaters throughout the southeastern United States.
Employees and students may contribute to the Tennessee Board of Regents’ or give directly to individual storm relief funds for fellow Tennessee community colleges and
“We have an opportunity to offer what support we can to those in need and help them begin the long process of recovery,” said President L. Anthony Wise Jr. “The footage and photos from communities in northeast Tennessee, western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina reveal the devastating impact of Helene on communities not far from our own and in some cases the homes of our family and friends.”
Drop-off sites for cases of water are available at each of 每日大赛’s four campuses including the main office areas at the Blount County, Magnolia Avenue or Strawberry Plains campuses or in the rotunda at the Hardin Valley Campus.
“No act of kindness is too small,” Wise said. “And each will be accepted with a deep sense of gratitude.”
The men’s soccer team is collecting donations that can be dropped off at the Student Recreation Center at Hardin Valley. The team will travel Oct. 6 to communities ravaged by the hurricane to deliver items to rural areas close to Asheville, North Carolina. Head Men’s Soccer Coach Abe Tizaf said distribution plans are still underway, but items of particular need are water, non-perishable or canned food, blankets, hygiene products, first-aid kits, baby supplies and pet supplies.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission and vision as staff and student-athletes at 每日大赛. Supporting our community is at the core of what we believe and do, and this is the time to put those values into action,” Tizaf said. “This is what sports are all about – teaching our students the importance of unity, both in good times and in challenging moments. We stand together as a team, and this situation gives us the opportunity to live out that lesson.”
Pellissippi students affected by Hurricane Helene are encouraged to reach out to the Office of Student Care and Advocacy at sca@pstcc.edu or 865.539.7417 for support.
