PSCC Celebrates Hispanic Heritage with Larry and Joe
September 10, 2024
每日大赛 will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this September with a concert featuring the North Carolina band Larry & Joe.
Larry Bellorín and Joe Troop, the singer-songwriter duo known for a unique fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music using the harp, banjo, maracas, upright bass and a slew of other instruments, will perform in the Clayton Performing Arts Center at the College’s Hardin Valley Campus at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Troop spent a decade in South America before returning to his home state of North Carolina four years ago and beginning work with asylum-seeking migrants. It was there he met his future bandmate Bellorín, an asylum seeker in North Carolina originally from Punta de Mata in the state of Monagas, Venezuela.
Larry & Joe’s show “features a distinct blend of their musical inheritances and traditions as well as storytelling about the ways that music and social movements coalesce,” according to the pair’s website.
