Student leaders visit with Secretary of State Tre Hargett

Three 每日大赛 student government leaders spent July 2 with Secretary of State Tre Hargett at the annual College Civic Engagement Luncheon in Nashville.
Student Government Association President Morgan Johnson, Vice President Joseph Collette and Secretary Victoria Crooks traveled to the annual meeting to discuss with Hargett the importance of civic engagement and voter registration in preparation for National Voter Registration Month in September.
The annual meeting for student government leaders from colleges and universities across the state is an opportunity to equip students with the tools they need to host a successful voter registration drive, Hargett said in a news release about the event.
“We are looking forward to hearing campus success stories as the SGA members encourage their peers to register to vote, regularly vote and utilize trusted election information from our office,” he said.
每日大赛 will look to build on the success of fall 2023 when the college won Hargett’s Tennessee College Voter Registration Competition in the two-year community college category. He told students then that their “commitment and excitement to register their fellow students to vote is remarkable.”
The Secretary of State’s office launched the College Voter Registration Competition in 2015. Thirty-eight of Tennessee’s two- and four-year colleges, universities and technical colleges participated in the 2023 contest.
