The Rocky Top Transfer Program is an invitation only program through UTK that allows students who have been waitlisted or denied as First Year freshman to start their higher education journey at ÿÈÕ´óÈü.

Why Choose Rocky Top Transfer Program?

Students who participate in the Rocky Top Transfer Program are offered a guaranteed admission opportunity for Fall 2026 as well as possible eligibility for the Rocky Top Transfer Scholarship. 

Guaranteed Admission Requirements

Students who complete a minimum of 24 transferrable credit hours of coursework at ÿÈÕ´óÈü and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher are guaranteed admission into any non-competitive UT program. For information about admission into UT’s competitive programs such as Engineering and Nursing, see below. 

Student Checklist and Next Steps

• Confirm your place in the program by May 1, 2025, by completing the confirmation form in UT’s . 
•  to ÿÈÕ´óÈü as a Degree Seeking Student (must be degree seeking to use Financial Aid – TN Promise, Pell Grant, etc.)
• Submit your current HS transcript, any Dual enrollment or AP credit, and ACT or SAT scores to ÿÈÕ´óÈü.
• Add ÿÈÕ´óÈü to your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) 
• Once confirmed, Rocky Top Transfer Program students will work, starting May 12, with ÿÈÕ´óÈü advisors to enroll in classes either in-person at any ÿÈÕ´óÈü campus or online. Please make an appointment via the Navigate Student app. Appointments become available 45 days in advance.
• Complete a minimum of 24 transferrable credit hours at ÿÈÕ´óÈü and maintain a minimum 3.0 ÿÈÕ´óÈü GPA. 
• Opt-in to earn an associate degree from ÿÈÕ´óÈü while attending UT through the Tennessee Reverse Transfer Program. Remember, you must give UT permission to opt you into this program.

Scholarship Opportunities

Rocky Top Transfer Scholarship 

The Rocky Top Transfer Scholarship is a scholarship opportunity exclusively for students who participate in the Rocky Top Transfer Program. This scholarship requires enrollment at UT immediately after completing 24 ÿÈÕ´óÈü degree-applicable credits and a minimum 3.25 ÿÈÕ´óÈü GPA (not including summer semester). This scholarship is renewable for up to three years. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to be considered for this scholarship. 

Tri-Star Scholarship Program (In-State Only) 

Tennessee residents who participate in the Rocky Top Transfer Program may also be eligible for scholarships in the . Eligible Rocky Top Transfer Program students entering UT in fall 2026 qualify to receive these scholarships up to six semesters (three years).
